Our people and our mission platforms help seniors across the country navigate the complex world of Medicare insurance options to lead them to their best possible outcomes. Our product offerings include Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, Critical Illness, and Dental, Vision, and Hearing insurance fact sheet tailored to every client’s individual needs.

     

    What we want:

    The Application Development Manager will lead a team of 8-10 software engineers, balancing technical and managerial responsibilities. This person will work closely with business stakeholders and other IT leaders to collaborate on robust, innovative technical solutions that solve business problems.  We are looking for someone who will focus on continuous improvement, both for our technical systems and our internal IT processes.  

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to create technical solutions that provide value to SVG
    • Continually work to identify and implement process improvements to improve the quality of the software development process
    • Manage software development staff including performance evaluations, promotions, hiring and disciplinary responsibilities
    • Mentor and guide software development staff
    • Ensure software development staff is following documented SDLC and architectural principles
    • Collaborate with project managers to align project resources based on current priorities
    • Solve problems and makes decisions on a daily basis relative to software development responsibilities
    • Ensure that effective representation takes place for coordinating work processes and projects with other departments and divisions  
    • Work effectively as a team member and with other members of management

    Qualifications

    • Self-starter with the ability to appropriately prioritize and plan complex work in a rapidly-changing environment
    • Results-oriented with an ability to produce products that deliver organizational benefit
    • Strong critical thinker with problem solving aptitude
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.
    • Experience working with mid to senior-level business stakeholders
    • Proven track record of collaborating to develop consensus and buy-in from all IT staff
    • An understanding that leadership comes from your ability to persuade others, not a title or position
    • Passion for solving business problems
    • Experience in developing estimations using Agile-based approaches
    • Experience mentoring software developers
    • At least 2 years of experience leading software engineers
    • At least 5 years of technical experience in software development
    • All members of our team must exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization and be able to work effectively with members of various departments

     

    Candidates must be able demonstrate knowledge of Agile methodologies, Microservice or Service Oriented architectures, Java, SQL, DevOps and Cloud computing.

     

    Must be authorized to work legally within the US. H-1B Sponsorship is not available for this position.
